These are some examples of processed food, and this type of food is going to cause close to half of the world's population to be overweight by 2050.

Unhealthy diet trends.

According to AFP, a study by experts from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK), global food demand is expected to increase by 50% in 30 years "pushing past Earth's capacity to sustain nature".

That's not too far away you guys!

The experts said that if current eating habits continue, more than four billion people are expected to be overweight by 2050.

Processed and non-vegetarian diets the main factor

While the eating trends differ from region to region, the experts said that globally, more people are moving away from plant-based diets and are consuming food which is high in sugar and fat.

More are also relying on animal-related food, specifically highly processed food products.

Dangerous diet trends.

While most people will be overweight, the report said that due to rising inequality, half a billion people worldwide will still be undernourished mid century.
