Express Bus Driver Under Investigation After Viral Video Shows Woman on His Lap While Driving

An express bus driver has landed himself in hot water after a video of him driving with a woman sitting on his lap went viral online.

To make matters worse, the woman, believed to be his girlfriend, was also caught on camera holding the steering wheel while the bus was in motion.

Another video, believed to show the same bus, was captured by the dashcam of another vehicle and showed the bus swerving through traffic.

The express bus is believed to have been travelling from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) to Kulai, Johor, when the incident occurred.

Investigation underway

The incident has since caught the attention of the authorities, prompting an investigation by the Road Transport Department (RTD).

According to RTD Senior Enforcement Director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan, both the driver and the bus company involved have been identified, and the driver has been called in to have his statement recorded.

He added that once investigations are completed, the case will be referred to the department’s director‑general for further action.

Those with information regarding the incident have been urged to contact the nearest RTD office.

He also reminded all motorists, especially commercial vehicle operators, to comply with traffic laws at all times to ensure the safety of all road users and to prevent incidents that could endanger lives.
