After numbers started rising, after hundreds went back to vote, after droves of politicians flew over to "help out" with campaigning during the recent Sabah election, the government has finally decided to restrict travel from Sabah to the rest of the country.

According to a report by New Straits Times, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that the travel restriction would be between 7 October to 20 October.

The minister said that the decision to impose the travel restriction was made following an increase in COVID-19 cases in Sabah recently.

Exemptions to the rule

Ismail Sabri assured that exemptions would be allowed for special cases.

This included for emergency matters, death in the family and other necessary services.

Exemptions will also be made for those who received special permission to travel to and from Sabah by the Health Ministry.

"Those who have been granted permission are required to undergo COVID-19 screening by the Health Ministry at their end destination," he said.

We just don't know la.

It's good that they're finally trying to control the spread, but perhaps it's a restriction that is being set in place a little (or a lot) too late.

What do you think?
