Many netizens have voiced out about receiving electricity bills that were sometimes 600% more than the usual sum.
In fact, after we wrote this story - The Latest Electricity Bills Are In And People Are Baffled By How High It Is...Again, one reader even told us that her bill came up to more than RM2,000.
That's quite gila lah considering she's a domestic user.
Anyways, some good news for you all.
If you electricity bill is less than RM77 or below 300kWj a month (4 million Malaysian domestic users fall in this category), you're entitled to get free electricity for the months of April, May and June.
An attempt to soften the blow
According to a report by The Star, Natural Resources Minister Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah made the announcement saying that it was part of the Electricity Prihatin Aid.
Shamsul Annuar also announced that those whose usage was more than 300kWj would be entitled to a RM77 monthly discount for their electricity bills during the period.
On top of the RM77 rebate, an additional 8% discount will also be provided to those whose usage is between 601kWj to 900kWj.
Why? Because according to research done, this group is the most affected by the sudden spike.
“Any credit will be reflected in the July bill,” he said.
This announcement was made after the ministry met with TNB after many raised concerns over dramatically increased electricity bills recently.
