In April, Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa won the praises of Malaysians after he helped sheltered over 800 homeless people during the Movement Control Order (MCO) in order to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The Ketereh MP also decided that once the MCO is over or in May (which ever comes first), these homeless people would be given training in order to help them to secure jobs with the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) or other companies.
On 5 May, Annuar Musa shared a series of photos of the homeless people attending a briefing for their interview sessions.
According to Berita Harian, part of the 800 homeless people are scheduled to go through job interviews starting from now until next Tuesday (12 May).
Successful candidates will be paid between RM1,200 to RM1,400 and will work as manufacturing factory operators or DBKL general workers.
The homeless will also be placed in two boarding houses provided by DBKL or their future employer while waiting for their first day of work to start.
The Federal Territories Minister previously stated that its ministry will be allocating a fund of RM1 million fund help the homeless around KL.
The MCO may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the homeless community, and we are happy to hear that the government is helping them get back on their feet and into society once again.
