Hey guys, remember the loyal good boi who melted our hearts last year when it was spotted queuing up at a chicken rice stall to 'tapau' food?

Sadly, the good boi has been taken away from us.

Unfortunate incident

According to a report by China Press, the good boi who goes by the name of Xiao Bai ('Little White' in Chinese) was shot by city council officers with a tranquilliser dart on Monday (17 May).

The dog’s death was announced by the chicken rice seller, Alex Sim, in a Facebook post on the same day.

The report said that on the fateful day, Xiao Bai's owner had called for it to come home, but the dog ran out.

While the good boi would do that often, the owner suspected something was amiss when she spotted several City Council officers, who were on the look out for stray dogs, roaming around the area.

She immediately rushed out to look for her pet, but it was nowhere to be seen.

She then received a message from her children at 11am, telling her that Xiao Bai had been shot and was in a coma.

Owner received a warning

When she confronted the council officers, she was told that the dog was only shot with tranquilliser drugs and that it would wake up in two hours.

Sadly, the good boi never woke up from its slumber.

The owner was later informed by the city council officers that Xiao Bai died because of its poor immune system.

To make matters worse, the owner told the Chinese daily that she received a warning letter from the city council for keeping an "unlicensed dog/wandering dog" in the neighbourhood.

When news of Xiao Bai's passing reached Sim, the kind man who would often pack an extra helping of chicken meat for Xiao Bai, he was loss beyond words.

"I hope people will not go around blaming each other, as the incident has already occurred. Xiao Bai trusted humans, but had its life taken by humans in the end.

“I'll never see you again, Xiao Bai, so long,” Sim wrote in another Facebook post after the incident.

A local favourite

Xiao Bai has long been a local favourite in Miri, Sarawak.

The good boi would often be seen happily trotting into a local food court and patiently wait for Sim to hand him his 'tapau' food.

After being handed the food, Xiao Bai would then carry the packet home with him.

We will miss you, Xiao Bai! There will be plenty of chicken rice for you in doggo heaven.
