Day 7 of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and most people are adhering to it so far.

While the government initially announced that the MCO would last for 14 days, there is now a possibility that it could be extended.

Depending on the current MCO

Quoting Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, New Straits Times reported that the government may consider extending the MCO for an additional one or two weeks.


“We will study according to the latest developments.

“If there are improvements, then MCO has shown positive effects, if the numbers and data are lower than what we see today,” he was quoted as saying.

At the moment, Muhyiddin revealed that the MCO compliance had improved to 90 per cent, but he's still not very happy with the number.

“From one angle, it can be said that the MCO is working, but if there are still some movements, we’re hoping it can be reduced to a minimum.”

The MKN will decide

The decision to extend the MCO will be made a day before the stay-at-home period ends.

"Before the MCO ends on 31 March, MKN will meet on whether the measure taken was adequate or is there a need to extend it by a week or two,” he was quoted as saying.
