We all know the importance of wearing face masks while living in the midst of a pandemic.

However, how many of us are aware that it is equally important to dispose of used masks properly?

(Honestly, most of us should already know this but of course people are just disposing off their masks wherever they want lah! Urgh!)

This little nugget of wisdom was passed on by the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) on their Facebook page as part of their public service announcement recently.


“Do not throw your facemask everywhere! The public is advised to throw away their facemask responsibly which is into the rubbish bins and not by the roadside nor in the drains,” read the post.

MBPP also paid tribute to its hardworking sanitation workers in the post.

“Please appreciate the hard work of these yellow-shirted heroes of MBPP who have always given their best in keeping our state clean.

"Please throw your facemask into the garbage bins.”

It’s high time we take the act of disposing of our masks seriously and let's think about the people who are risking exposure to the virus just to clean up after us.
