In the past few days after the 14th General Election (GE14), our news feeds and social media timelines have been flooded with news after news about Malaysia's new federal government.

One of the changes that the rakyat is looking forward to is the abolishment of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), as promised by Pakatan Harapan's 100-day manifesto.

This morning, a statement by the Ministry of Finance began circulating across social media allegedly stating that GST will be abolished on 1 June.

However, the Ministry has confirmed that the news is fake.

Please stop circulating this fake news.
At the moment, the government has yet to establish a date to abolish GST.

Everyone is eager to see changes take place, but let's all be extra careful with any news we receive on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp in the coming days.
