Ipoh, here we come!

There's nothing Malaysians love more than cheap good food.

But sadly, in this day and age, the words "good food" and "cheap" don't always belong in the same sentence.

However, a hawker in Ipoh is doing all he can to make sure that good food comes cheap.

Shahrizan Azmed has reportedly been selling bean sprout chicken rice, one of Ipoh's most popular dishes, for only RM1.30 a plate.

Cheaper than a glass of Milo Ais.
The 37-year-old operates his little stall with the help of his wife in a Chinese-styled kopitiam at Taman Ipoh Timur Baru.

Shahrizan told The New Straits Times that although he earns very little profit, his main goal is to provide cheap food for those who can't afford it.

“I hope my initiative will at least allow more people to eat out," Shahrizan told the daily.

Husband and wife team.
While a plate costs only RM1.30, Shahrizan charges only an additional 30 sen for takeaway to cover the packing costs.

Even then, RM1.60 is considered super cheap compared to other bean sprout chicken rice stalls in Ipoh, with some of the more popular ones offering the same dish for RM10 per plate.

If you want to check out Shahrizan's stall, the restaurant is located inside the Bercham housing area and opens at 11.30am.
