Here's a grim reminder for you Malaysians: even though you're fully vaccinated, that doesn't mean you're safe from COVID-19.

Full vaccinated Malaysians are still losing their lives to the pandemic.

Experts demanding for data

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah revealed on Wednesday (18 August) that a total of four Malaysians who have been fully vaccinated have died after contracting COVID-19.

On top of that, 80 Malaysians who have received one dose of the vaccination have also succumbed to the virus, New Straits Times reported.

"Our recent clinical audit data analysis on the "breakthrough deaths" showed that among the overall 12,993 deaths recorded, 80 cases had been partially vaccinated (0.6 per cent) and 4 cases had full vaccination (0.03 per cent),” he wrote in a tweet.

As COVID-19 cases and transmission rates have increased outside of Klang Valley, Penang, Johor and Sarawak, more people were demanding for granular data on COVID-19 deaths post-vaccination.

Experts have also reportedly demanded for the data to gauge vaccine efficacy in the face of the rising number of the Delta variant.

The data is said to be important to decide on the need of booster shots.

Continue to stay at home, you guys. Even when you're fully vaccinated, it doesn't mean you're invincible.
