These may not be the words we want to hear, but the government is left with no choice because some Malaysians are still being very stubborn.


The government is reportedly looking into reintroducing the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) to stop the rise in COVID-19 cases.

No choice but to do it

Quoting Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Malay Mail reported that the government is mulling enforcing the EMCO in certain areas that are deemed high-risked.

Dr Noor Hisham said currently, the ten new clusters are under control, and the Health Ministry is hard at work tracing the close contacts of the COVID-19 patients in those areas.

As such, enforcing EMCO in those targeted areas is a viable option to stop the increase in COVID-19 cases.

"We’ll run EMCO in the locality or target group that we have identified,” he was quoted as saying.


In total, Dr Noor Hisham revealed that there are 19 active clusters in the country since the beginning of July.

And since 19 July, no lesser than nine new COVID-19 cases have been announced daily.

There are 143 active COVID-19 cases as of Thursday (23 July), with five patients in intensive care and two relying on ventilators.

We hope it doesn't come to this, but on the other hand, we understand the need to reintroduce the EMCO.
