Certain categories of COVID-19 patients have been increasing lately.

According to a report by Bernama , quoting Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba, the categories involved are those from categories 4 and 5.

Category 4 is for patients that require supplemental oxygen while those in category 5 are those who are critically ill and need to be on ventilator support.

Cases on the rise

Dr Adham said a total of 30,287 cases were recorded in May involving both categories compared to 6,751 cases in April.

He said the cases are expected to increase following a total of 22,857 cases recorded in the two categories yesterday (16 June).

Dr Adham said that the usage of intensive care unit (ICU) beds for treating COVID-19 patients had reached 97 per cent now.
