Getting infected with COVID-19 is already an absolute nightmare but imagine getting infected twice.

This was the case for several Malaysians who had to relive the horror once again.

It’s possible for you to be infected twice

According to the Malay Mail, Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba confirmed that 113 COVID-19 patients who have made full recovery were reinfected with the virus.

The death toll in our country is climbing rapidly.
Out of the 113 patients, eight were children under 18 years old while the rest were adults.

85 of them came from active COVID-19 clusters and 28 of them were sporadic infections.

“However, this number of identified cases of those being reinfected with COVID-19 only represents 0.02 per cent of the case total from the outbreak,” Adham said.

“Several studies from the United Kingdom, United States, and Denmark reported the rate of COVID-19 reinfection is very low with it being less than one percent of the total number of cases.”

“The studies also showed that 77 to 83 per cent of patients who have been infected with COVID-19 are immune to future infections.”

Let's all get vaccinated to achieve herd immunity!
He added that COVID-19 patients should also adhere to the COVID-19 SOPs to avoid chances of being reinfected.

We've got a long way until we reach herd immunity or be free from the virus, so the best way to avoid being infected or reinfected is to always stay home and stay safe.
