Those living in Perlis, Kedah and Penang, brace yourself for some extreme weather, guys!

Malaysian Meteorological Department said these states will experience heavy rain, strong winds and turbulent seas following the start of the southwest monsoon season on 6 May.

The department’s National Weather and Geophysics Operations Centre director Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said in a statement quoted by Astro Awani that the southwest monsoon would bring heavy rain to Perlis, Kedah and Penang due to its geological location that is more exposed to wind.

He added that the west coast of the peninsula (where Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor are located), would not be affected by the weather because those states are protected by the Sumatra Island.

We don't know what's worse: bracing for the wet weather or dealing with the insanely scorching weather.

Stay safe, people in Perlis, Kedah and Penang. Try and avoid beach areas if you can.
