Heineken Reveals Non-Alcoholic Beer For Non-Muslims Aged 21 And Above Only
One of the biggest beer brands in the world has launched a non-alcoholic range in Malaysia.
Heineken Malaysia recently unveiled the Heineken 0.0, which is a malt beverage that contains zero alcohol.
The intention behind this was to let people enjoy the taste of beer, minus the after effects of consuming alcohol.
However, the move raised concerns over the fact that minors can get hold of the drink, as reported by the Malay Mail.
Heineken clarified in a statement that Heineken 0.0 is non-halal and is only targeted at non-Muslims above 21 years old.
“Products are only available at the non-halal zone of supermarkets and convenience stores with clear signage indicating that the product is strictly for non-Muslims, aged 21 and above.
“In addition, for stores without designated non-Halal areas, we are placing clear signages to inform consumers that Heineken 0.0 is strictly for non-Muslims, aged 21 and above.”
“We also wish to reiterate that Heineken Malaysia Berhad is a company that is culturally sensitive in the way that we operate our business,” the statement said.
