For those of you that don't know, the tower has been undergoing restoration works due to several issues including parts of the building crumbling and water leaking from its roof.
On Sunday (27 September) authorities announced that the critical phase of the multi-million dollar face-lift for the tower had been completed and it was finally time for the screens to come down.
Not everything will be revealed at one go though.
The scaffolding will be removed from the roof of Big Ben first and it will take about six weeks for the tower to be fully revealed.
Intricate restoration works
"Three years after the structure was scaffolded, this is a significant moment in the timeline of this complex conservation project," said a spokesperson for the parliamentary estate according to a report by The Star.
The restoration work for the tower, which is one of the most photographed structures in the world, include 3,433 roof tiles and the intricate spire of the building.
A team of gilders also restored the tower's metal cross and orb, ensuring that the details match the original design from 1859.
