How To Renew Your Road Tax & Driving License Online

If your driving license is not renewed, you may be slapped with a fine and your license may be revoked. Likewise, if you fail to pay your road tax, you may face prosecution Before any of those unpleasant scenarios occur, make sure to renew them online.

Instead of heading to a JPJ office physically, we used MYEG for a hassle-free process. There are also several other websites that you can check out such as JPJ’s website.

How to Renew Road Tax Online

Bear in mind that if your vehicle has an expired road tax exceeding 36 months, your vehicle must undergo and pass the necessary inspection by Pusat Pemeriksaan Kenderaan Berkomputer (PUSPAKOM) –– which sounds like a whole lot of hassle to us.

  1. Head to MYEG’s website. Click on the ‘Check and Pay Road Tax’ tab and it will bring you to the ‘Road Transport Department (JPJ) Services’ page. The account login/registration page will appear. Click on ‘Create Account’ and fill in your particulars accordingly. Confirm and activate your account from the confirmation email that you have received.

  1. Log in with your username and password again and under the ‘Go To’ selection, click on ‘MYROADTAX’ and select the ‘login’ button.

  1. Select either the ‘Car Road Tax Renewal’ or the ‘Motorcycle Road Tax Renewal’ option.

  1. Fill in your details such as your I.C. number, and vehicle registration number.

  1. Click on the ‘Renewal Period’ option to select to renew your road tax for six months or 12 months.

  1. You can now select the MyJPJ app as the collection method.

  1. Proceed with your payment and save the receipt as proof.

How to Renew Driving License Online

The expiration date matches your date of birth, which makes it easier to remember. Besides renewing it at a JPJ office, you can also head to any POS Malaysia branch if you wish to do so in person.

The cost of renewing your Class D (car driving license by year is as follows: 1 year (RM30), 3 years (RM90), 5 years (RM150). Do note that if your driving license has expired for three years or more, it becomes totally invalid. Also, these two types of licenses can only be renewed in person:

  • Learner Driving License (LDL or L license)

  • Probationary Driving License (PDL or P license)

  1. Select ‘Driving License Renewal (CDL) in the JPJ section on the MyEG website.

  1. Insert your information including your I.C. number, your desired renewal period (minimum of one year, maximum of five years), and your collection method.

  1. Enter your name and delivery address.

  1. Please note that delivery charges apply according to different areas in Malaysia. It delivers within 2 working days within the Klang Valley and 2-3 days in town areas in Peninsular Malaysia.

  1. Proceed with your payment and save the receipt as proof.

Transport Minister and sometimes undercover public transport commuter Anthony Loke announced in January that Malaysiaans will be able to renew their license and road tax via smartphone in the near future. That time hasn't come yet, but here's evidence of his claim so that we can check up on his progress in the future:
