Floodwaters have been ravaging parts of the country, and the rains don't seem to be letting up.

Many people have found themselves trapped in their houses to the the sudden rise in water levels and the authorities including our abang bomba, rela and police have been working around the clock to rescue them.

Among the boats and other recue teams, heavy equipment operator Sadri Asreil Sahair and his "King Kong" definitely stood out.

According to a report by Bernama, the 35-year-old as roped in to help rescue flood victims in Lipis, Kuantan using his mining dump truck, dubbed "King Kong".

“People seemed perplexed when I arrived at the flooded area but were relieved to learn that I was there to assist the stranded victims.





“The rescue operation ran from noon to 7pm, before we had to stop due to safety issues as it was getting dark and the water level was getting higher,” he told Bernama.



Sadri said that other than conducting rescues, King Kong was also used to transport food and health personnel to other locations.

Internal issues

While King Kong was extremely useful due to its sheer size, it had to be rested after three trips after floodwaters affected its internal parts.



“Although I could only assist for short time but it is a lifelong memory. It was exhausting work but the tiredness dissipated upon hearing the gratitude of the people. It was testing time of my skills too driving in flood conditions.

“Each time I bring out flood victims, I remind myself to be patient and not make hasty decisions for the safety of the victims and myself too,” he said.
