With most humans holed up at home, animals - and in this case, turtles - have been happily roaming about.

How do we know that they're happy?

Well, they're laying eggs and that too at the beaches in Port Dickson!

According to Bernama, the discovery was announced by the Negeri Sembilan State Fisheries Office on their Facebook page recently.

The post said that officials had found 118 'Agar' (Green) turtle eggs and another 110 more of unknown species.

"Turtles have landed to nest on the beaches in Port Dickson before, but this was scarce as these sea-dwelling reptiles were deterred by the rapid development and bright lights.

"Normally the turtles would look for quiet spots around here, and we are actively locating them with the help of those who have been given permission to collect the eggs," State Fisheries Department director Halimi Abu Hanip told Bernama.

Protect the eggs

He said the eggs were brought to the Ornamental Fish Centre to be incubated for conservation.

He added that the deserted shores of Port Dickson could have prompted the turtles to lay their eggs in the area.
