M. Sugu, one half of the popular Ipoh-based YouTube sensation SuguPavitra was detained by police recently after he allegedly injured his wife, Pavithra using a sharp weapon at Hospital Raja Permaisuri in Ipoh.
According to a report by The Star, Pavithra was in the midst of visiting a relative at the hospital at around 5.54pm when the incident took place.
"Her husband, who was said to be drunk, had a dispute with her and hit her," said a source to The Star.
"The dispute is believed to be because Pavithra didn't mention his name when receiving an award on Monday," said the source.
Pavithra and her husband Sugu were named the “Ipoh City Icon” recently.

Family problems
Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm A Asmadi Abdul Aziz confirmed the report and said that initial investigations confirmed that the incident stemmed from a family dispute.Meanwhile, the Magistrate Court ordered for Sugu to be remanded for three days to aid with investigations under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapon Act 1958.
