Many people save up money to buy things that they desire.

This couple in Indonesia did the same, but the manner of how they did it brought some tears to our eyes.

When there's a will, there's a way

The couple, Asriadi Syamsuddin and Ratna, took a liking to a brand new Toyota Rush.

So, they started saving all their money consisting of currency notes and coins in water containers and card boxes in hopes of being able to save up enough to buy the SUV.

And recently, they finally did it.

According to a report by Suara.com, the couple accumulated a total of 273 million rupiah (RM80,000) in just three years. The coins and notes came from the sales made from the street store owned by the pair in Kota Makassar.

Asriadi told the news portal that once he laid eyes on the Toyota Rush, he was determined to save up.

“It doesn’t feel like I’ve been saving for three years because I’ve never counted the amount.

“When I saw that the water container used to keep the coins was full, I took it out and realised that the total amounted to hundreds of millions of rupiah,” Asriadi was quoted as saying.

With the loose change in hand, they proceeded to a car dealership to purchase their dream car.

An employee at the car dealership assisted Asriadi to count the coins, and branch manager Ariefyanto Arsjad told the news portal that the couple had saved enough to purchase their dream car.

“When we calculated, we realised that Syamsuddin brought enough money amounting 271 million rupiah (RM79,269) to purchase a Toyota Rush,” Ariefyanto was quoted as saying.

Ariefyanto added that it was quite an experience for him and his team as this is the first time a customer walked into a dealership and purchased a car using money saved in water containers.

“This is an unusual experience for us because we have never seen customers buying cars using coins," he was quoted as saying.

We feel so happy for Asriadi and Ratna. When there is a will, there is indeed a way!
