While the world is still trying to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, ticks are causing massive problems in China.

According to a report in the Financial Express, an infectious disease caused by ticks is slowly spreading there.

To date, the virus, called Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS) has killed seven people and infected 60 others in the country.

A fatal bite.

Not a new threat

According to Wikipedia, the symptoms for SFTS include fever, vomiting, diarrhea, multiple organ failure, thrombocytopenia (low platlet count, leukopenia (low white blood cell count and elevated liver enzyme levels.

However, the report said that this is not a new type of virus and that China isolated the virus pathogen in 2011.

Not a new virus.

Scarily, virologists have warned that the virus may be transmitted between humans.

The primary cause of transmission, in this case, points to a tick bite.

Be cautious guys!
