Remember the Japanese company that offered the country’s first drive-in haunted house experience in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic?

The company called ‘Kowagarasetai’ which roughly translates to "the Scaredy Squad" in Japanese, is at it again.

This time around, they are trying to take people’s minds off COVID-19 by putting them in coffins surrounded by chainsaw-wielding zombies.

So, how exactly does it work?

According to a report in Reuters, customers are allowed to lie in a 2-metre windowed coffin while listening to a horror story and watching actors perform.

Throughout it all, they will get poked with fake hands and squirted with water.

“The pandemic is stressful, and we hope people can get a bit of relief by having a good scream,” said the coordinator of company Kenta Iwana.

A way to help actors

This is one way Iwana could offer work for his actors who are struggling to find work during the pandemic because they are used to perform in crowded venues like theme parks.

The coffin show is mobile because Inawa said they needed something that they could take anywhere.

“We needed to have something that we could take anywhere, and coffins are easy to move. All you need to do is put them in a dark room.

“It’s good business for us and satisfying for our customers,” he said.
