A Reddit user recently shared the heartbreaking story (the post was removed to protect the anonymity of the cafe owner, but the comments remain) of how he suspected his dog was killed for being a ‘nuisance’ by a café owner.

We reached out to the Reddit poster directly to get the full story and hopefully shed some light to this incident.

Living behind a hill on an undisclosed beach on Langkawi Island, Zeen (named changed to protect privacy) would frequently take walks on the beach with his beloved dog Nora to enjoy the undulating waves of the ocean and the feeling of the sand on their feet (and paws). Sadly, one of those walks turned awry when Nora ingested poison left out on the public beach.

There was a forest nearby to the cafe that caused it to be populated animals like monkeys, cats, and dogs. A café opened up recently and the owner of the café who is allegedly a "big shot in a small island" apparently found the animals to be a nuisance and left out poison for the animals.

Unknowingly during one of their walks, Nora ate bread that was soaked in poison, which was among other food placed in a container on the beach. He rushed her to a vet as she started convulsing but it was too late.

Nora died a violent death within 30 minutes of ingesting the poison in the car and he was unable to say goodbye to her. According to his post, he said “I was praying for her to go quickly as she was suffering too much. I will never forget the last look she gave me.”

Although Zeen has no physical evidence of this, these incidents only occurred with the opening of the café and he had been walking regularly at the area for the past two years without spotting any issues.

According to Zeen, at the last count, six dogs were killed and many dusky leaf monkeys, which have black fur with white ‘spectacles’. The monkeys would go into the forest to die that caused a terrible stench that would only wash away with the rain that has now caused all the monkeys either to die out or to flee the area.

When Nora died, he sadly had to bring her back home and then buried her under her favourite tree. To get the message across to the animal killer, Nora’s owner held a memorial for her right where she was poisoned, which was in front of the beach café.

When we spoke to him, Zeen said “I had the memorial for Nora because I didn't want any of my friends who owns dogs to go through what I went through.”

Zeen was distraught over the senseless act as the café owner had left out the poison on a public beach which was not his property.

Zeen confronted the manager of the café who denied it while the waiters said otherwise. Zeen remarked “I just need this guy to stop or at least feel some pain for what he is continuing to do.”

In support, some online users have taken to Google reviews to voice their dissatisfaction with the place. While he has no physical evidence, Zeen says he is currently considering all avenues of justice including possibly reporting the owner of this cafe for animal cruelty seeing as they targeted and killed animals who they viewed as a ‘nuisance’.

The case is still on-going but we hope Nora's owner finds justice.
