Datuk Lee Chong Wei was extremely disappointed with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) earlier this month when they ruled him out of competing in the All-England championships due to a knee injury. But there's good news now!

In a turn of events, the World No. 1 worked hard towards a speedy recovery and is now set to compete in the tournament in Birmingham from 7 to 12 March.

The three-time All-England champion almost missed the championships when he slipped and tore his medial collateral ligament (MCL) on his left knee several weeks ago. He claimed that BAM’s technical director Morten Frost had not responded to his request to replace the slippery mats at the time.

However, national singles coach Hendrawan told The Star that Sandra Fiedler from the National Sports Institute has given Lee the green light to compete after showing positive results from his magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan yesterday.

"It will be his first tournament since the World Superseries Finals in Dubai in December but I'm sure he'll go there and give it his best,” Hendrawan said, as quoted by The Star.
