An honest Malaysian made headlines recently for returning a wallet belonging to somebody else - even if it means driving the entire day to do so.
Such a sweet gesture
Malay Mail reported that a local Grab driver travelled over 200km just to return a wallet belonging to a passenger that was left behind in his car.The wallet reportedly belonged to a Singaporean named Carney Mak, who accidentally the wallet when he had taken a Grab ride in Johor Baru.
However, the 31-year-old didn’t realised that he lost his wallet until later that night when he wanted to pay for dinner.
“Made a report on the Grab app while heading back to Singapore. Shortly after arriving in Singapore, I received a call from the Grab driver to inform me that he will check his car and update me via Whatsapp,” he wrote on the JB TRACER: Johor Bahru Traffic, Crime & Community Service Report Facebook page.
Mak said the driver, named Sateesh Karuppusamy, found his wallet and they both agreed to meet the next evening as it was already past midnight.
The pair agreed to meet at the Johor Bahru Sentral Caltex petrol station and only then he realised Mak found out that Sateesh had driven all the way from Melaka to return his wallet.
“Everything was in tact (few hundred $ plus my cards).
“Had to write this long post to express my gratitude to Mr. Sateesh Karuppusamy,” he wrote.
The report also said that Mak had extended an invite for a one-week, all-expense paid stay in Singapore for Sateesh and his family.
