Remember when you were young, your parents would've taught you to always return the things you've borrowed.

This one man, however, did not. Instead, he sold it.

A strange tale indeed

The man and his missing Perodua Axia.
The whole story began when the owner of a car rental service in Selangor reported a missing car on 12 May.

According to Sinar Harian, 27-year-old Muhammad Nizamuddeen Mohd Abd Kadzar rented out a Perodua Axia to a man but he did not return the car.

After putting up a post on social media asking for help to locate the missing car, Nizamuddeen got a tip that the vehicle was spotted in Tanah Merah in Kelantan.

Nizamuddeen and his brother reportedly drove to Tanah Merah at 5am, and thankfully for them, they managed to track down the Perodua Axia at 11am.

Now, here's the plot twist: the man behind the wheel wasn't the man who rented the car from him.

The car before it was modified and sold.
Instead, the driver of the car was a 40-year-old man, who told Nizamuddeen that he had bought the Perodua Axia for just RM1,500.

The man also told Nizamuddeen that the man who sold him the car informed him that the compact car was a "kereta sakit" (problematic car), and the man had reportedly continued paying the car's monthly instalments.

Interestingly, the man also managed to obtain the car's vehicle documents from the seller - all this without the knowledge of Nizamuddeen.

The vehicle was found without the original renter.
On top of that, the Perodua Axia was also reportedly modified as it sported a fancy number plate and freshly-tinted windows.

"While the original tenant could not be traced, it’s believed he is still in Kelantan with his daughter. The vehicle has been taken to a nearby police station for a report and it will be taken home after the related matters are solved," he was quoted as saying.

Nizamuddeen explained that he had installed a safety device in the car, but it was believed that the renter had removed it before selling the car off.

Well, we are glad that the man was finally reunited with his car. The whole experience must've been a bit scary though.
