The Pop Mart craze has been going around Malaysia for some time now, with blind boxes containing mystery toys intriguing many young adults. You might’ve seen unboxing videos on TikTok, which include figurines from brands such as Disney and Sanrio.

The excitement of purchasing the boxes stems from not knowing exactly which character you will get. However, things got messy at the new Pop Mart store at Pavilion Bukit Jalil when a man from the China cut the queue, causing locals to ask him to “go back to China.”

In a video posted by X user @ShamaaKoussa, a huge crowd was seen waiting at the new Pop Mart store at Pavilion Bukit Jalil. According to their official Instagram page, the store held its grand opening on May 4 with exclusive items, freebies, and hot deals. When this writer visited the Pop Mart store in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on a normal weekday, it was super crowded, so you can imagine the number of people who would’ve gathered there for a grand opening.

However, one man from the People’s Republic of China cut the queue, which angered many locals, which mostly seemed to consist of Malaysian Chinese. Many people were heard shouting at him, asking him to “go back to China” and flapping their hands at him. One man also seemed to complain about the Chinese man to the staff.

The man who was wearing spectacles and wearing a white T-shirt asked the crowd angrily, “Why are you shouting?” and even hit a paper angrily at them. This led more people to boo and jeer at him. They were understandably angry as they had probably queued for hours.

X users chimed in with their thoughts on the situation:

This man was wrong for cutting the queue but remember not to judge people based on nationality or race!
