We know that the daily COVID-19 cases are increasing by the dozens daily.

What we didn't know was how fast it could increase in a day.

A single day record

The number of COVID-19 positive cases reached record high today (Wednesday, 19 May) at 6,075 cases. This is a huge jump from the numbers the day before, which was 4,865.

The Health Ministry tweeted the latest numbers, worrying Malaysians.
Unsurprisingly, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Johor recorded the highest number of cases with 2,251, 660 and 669 respectively.

This is followed by Kedah with 445 cases, Kelantan with 441 cases, Sarwak with 323 cases, Perak with 220 cases, and Terengganu with 203 cases.

Other states recorded less than 200 cases, with Perlis and Putrajaya recording only six and nine cases respectively.

Frustrated Malaysians take to Twitter to complain

Malaysians frustrated at the continued increase in the number of new COVID-19 cases and deaths have been sharing their grouses on Twitter.

In fact, the phrase "Road to 10k" became the number one trending topic on the platform within minutes of the announcement of the latest numbers.

Please stay home!

Guys, we know the government hasn't exactly handled the whole COVID-19 situation all that great and we are all angry, frustrated and filled with all kinds of negative emotions.

That doesn't mean we stop doing our parts. Please stay at home as much as you can, follow SOPs when you're out and register to get vaccinated.

Tolonglah, tak kesian ke kat frontliners and those who keep losing their loved ones to this virus?
