We all deserve some good news, especially during this tough times so here's one: it looks like Malaysia will reach its target of getting 10 per cent of its population vaccinated against COVID-19 soon.

According to News Straits Times, we are on track to ensure 10 per cent of our population are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by mid-July.

Less than 3 per cent to go

Deputy Health Minister Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali said 34 per cent out of 16 million registered have received their first dose and 2.3 million Malaysians are fully vaccinated.

"This means we have another 2.9 per cent to go to achieve the 10 per cent target. July will be a very important month for us in our efforts to accelerate vaccination for our people, and we hope to achieve the 10 per cent target to be fully vaccinated by mid-July.

"If we are able to achieve the target, this means that we have achieved one of the three indicators in the threshold for us to move to the second phase of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

"This will be something good and we hope those involved will continue to sacrifice to ensure the success of the vaccination efforts under the COVID-19 National Immunisation Programme (NIP)," he said.

He added that the country is set to receive between 12 and 14 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines this month.

Let’s hope that most, if not all of our population will get vaccinated soon!
