Getting people to agree to be vaccinated can be pretty challenging, especially with many anti-vaxxers polluting social media channels.

Messages from the government, PSA's from celebrities and various posts by the health authorities on social media are also meant to educate and encourage people to register and get vaccinated.

Many companies and especially eateries in Malaysia have also been offering discounts and other promos for those who have been vaccinated.

Encouraging staff to be vaccinated.
Basically, everyone is trying their best to encourge more people to get their shots.

This Malaysian company, however, is spending some major moolah as an incentive to get vaccinated.

According to a report by The Edge, The Edge Media Group has decided to give their fully vaccinated staff a bonus of RM1,000 each.

Woah!

A push in the right direction

The report said that the company aimed to get all their employees fully vaccinated by the end of the year. This would mean that all of them would receive the special bonus by then.

Not only that, if all 220 of its employees are fully vaccinated by the end of the year, they will get another RM1,000 each!

Publisher and chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Ho Kay Tat said the vaccination bonus was meant to support the government's national vaccination programme.

It's part of their employee welfare campaign.
Additionally, he said that the company also conducted a survey among its staff to find out how many people intended to be vaccinated and found out that 97 per cent of them had registered to be innoculated.

"I was expecting more to be hesitant and to wait and see. Because the response was very good, we decided to reward them with a bonus.

"We want all our staff to be vaccinated, so that everyone feels safe working together in the office when we are allowed to fully reopen," said Ho adding that the company also wanted third party members to feel safe when meeting staff from the media group.

PCR tests when needed.
Other than the bonus, staff at The Edge are also provided with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests when needed and DIY kits will be provided in the future to allow for staff to conduct regular self-testing.

We love the initiatives taken, and it shows that the company cares for the welfare of its staff.

The hope is for more Malaysian companies to offer such incentives too.
