According to the post, the livestream was watched by more than 500,000 users, including both local and international viewers.

“RTM bought the rights to broadcast the World Cup to Malaysians, but this guy livestreamed it on TikTok and shared it with the whole world just to gain views. Almost 500,000 people watched his livestream. Just pray FIFA or RTM doesn't notice this, or you might get sued,” the post read.

After the post went viral, many social media users urged authorities to take action against the influencer over the illegal livestream.

“Did not mean to hurt or trouble anyone”

Following the backlash, the influencer, Ammar Nazhan, issued a statement regarding the livestream incident.

In a lengthy post, Ammar said he was initially interacting with viewers while watching the match and did not expect his livestream to go viral.

“To be honest, I never intended to hurt or trouble anyone. For me, the World Cup is an event that unites football fans around the world. I’m happy to see the excitement of fans who watched the game together.”

However, Ammar said he had seen various assumptions, criticism and insults directed at him from people who did not know the full situation. He added that he is open to cooperating with any party if clarification is needed.

“What I hope is that everyone can give space to the facts and not immediately pass judgment based on assumptions or content that has been edited to gain views. I’m only human. I have a family, a team and supporters who are also affected by everything that has transpired," he added.

Ammar ended the statement by expressing his gratitude to those who continue to support him. He also said he would continue creating content while learning from the experience.

Livestream suspended for seven days

In an update, Ammar revealed that TikTok had suspended his livestreaming access for seven days. It is understood that the action was taken after he violated the platform's Community Guidelines.

For now, Ammar said he will focus on creating other content while waiting for the suspension to be lifted.
