Malaysians Can't Give Up Their Phones Even For A Day

You deserve an award if you survived more than one day without your phone, computer or the internet because a majority of Malaysians can't do it.

As a matter of fact, Malaysians are the most dependent on internet-connected devices in the world!

According to a report titled 'State of Digital Lifestyles' by Limelight Networks, 69 per cent of Malaysians are not confident enough to stop using their mobile phones even for one day.

So, it is safe to say that we're addicted.

We even prefer reading digital books instead of physical copies!

The report states that Malaysia scored the highest when it comes to e-books where 74.7 per cent read digital books, while 25.4 per cent still stick to the traditional physical copies.

Malaysians are also heavily reliant on laptop and desktop computers as they are seen as the second most important technology. About 43.4 per cent of people responded that they can't go on a day without these devices.

Music happens to be the number one most commonly accessed online content for us, followed by movies or TV shows and apps.

Speaking of that, the report found that Malaysians are also the group least likely to fork out money for paid content or online services, as reported by Bernama.

This report collected data from 10 countries on how they interact with digital media and the impact of technology in their lives, including Malaysia, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.
