It's usually the delivery charges that are a killer, but now Malaysians may have another fee to fork out too.
The government is planning to impose a 0.02 per cent service charge for all online purchases soon.

Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin said that the charge might be as low as 20 sen for purchases of RM1,000 and below.
According to a report by Malaysiakini, the minister said that they have yet to decide on the details pertaining to the charge.
He said that the matter was still being discussed at the ministry level at the moment.
Not happy
Meanwhile, news of the new fee has not been received well by many netizens. Most argue that the fee would also discourage online transactions at a time when the government should be encouraging it.
we pay a 6% digital tax for Netflix/Spotify. we pay an additional 50sen top-up for Touch n Go at some outlets. we even pay a 10% surcharge at certain parking lots for using Touch n Go. and now, we will ALSO pay more for online transactions. https://t.co/9jnWWgOaE6

Completely and unequivocally flies in the face of promoting the application of virtual and contactless transactions and e-commerce.

@Khairykj adding charges for regular online transaction is not the way to promote towards cashless society.
