Workers tested positive
The Health Ministry has ordered a mamak to close down temporarily because its workers have tested positive for COVID-19.
According to The Star Online, two foreign workers at the mamak were screened during a random exercise by district health officials on Saturday (15 August).
The two workers, who have been sent to the Sg Buloh hospital, are reportedly Indian nationals who live in Setapak.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement quoted by the news portal that the ministry would be doing further investigations and taking additional samples from the workers.
Dr Noor Hisham did not mention the name of the restaurant, however, an Oriental Daily report suggested that the mamak that was ordered to shut down was Restaurant Ali Maju in Wangsa Maju.
For the time being, Dr Noor Hisham said the mamak has been ordered to shut down temporarily for sanitation and cleaning works.
The Federal Territories Health Department said the mamak will be closed for two weeks to have the premises sanitised under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
