On 13 October, Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, and Michelle Yeoh were walking down the yellow carpet at Resorts World Sentosa when a man suddenly charged past security personnel and grabbed Grande

The pop star appeared visibly shaken, while Cynthia Erivo quickly stepped in to shield her and push the intruder away. Michelle Yeoh was also seen wrapping her arms around Grande to comfort her.

The incident sparked immediate backlash from fans, many of whom demanded that the man be arrested and formally charged for assaulting the star.

Who is the intruder?

If you assumed the man who lunged at Grande was just a starstruck fan, think again.

The man, known online as “Pyjama Man,” is actually a 26-year-old Australian influencer named Johnson Wen. Following the incident, Wen shamelessly posted a video of the encounter on Instagram with the caption: “Dear Ariana Grande, thank you for letting me jump on the Yellow Carpet with you.”

According to a report by BBC, Wen has been charged with being a public nuisance by a Singapore court. If found guilty, he could face a fine of up to SGD 2,000 (approximately RM6,377).

Fans have also accused Wen of reopening old wounds for Grande, who previously revealed she suffers from PTSD after the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing that killed 22 people and injured hundreds more.

This wasn’t his first time

Wen’s antics didn’t start with Ariana Grande. His Instagram page shows a history of crashing high-profile events. In June, he jumped on stage during Katy Perry’s concert in Sydney, forcing the singer to maintain composure as she moved away from him. He has also disrupted concerts by The Weeknd and The Chainsmokers.

But Wen’s streak goes beyond music events. He has invaded the field during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup final, the Cricket World Cup final, and even the track during the men’s 100m final at the 2024 Olympics.

In June 2025, an Australian news outlet reported that Wen, who is currently unemployed, has been arrested multiple times and accumulated an estimated AUD 20,000 (about RM54,000) in fines. To cover his mounting bills, Wen launched a GoFundMe campaign, but so far, only $10 has been raised out of his $35,000 target.
