From Nicol David to Lee Chong Wei to Azizulhasni Awang, we Malaysians have been blessed with so many sports stars who've made the country proud and who we could all look up to.

Soon, we'll be able to add another name to the list.

Talented footballer

Meet the future football star.
A 15-year-old girl has made the country proud after being selected to play for German football club Bayern Munich.

According to Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Celine Chung has been playing for the club's Under-17 female second squad since July of this year.

Chung, who plays as a winger, has wowed fans and fellow footballers alike when she was given the opportunity to train and play with the U-15 Wacker Munchen eV Boys Team.

In fact, she's scored two goals in two official German leagues: one for the boys' team and another for her U-17 FC Bayern women's team.

Watch out, Mia Hamm; she's coming for your scoring record!

Making the country proud.
Chung told FAM in an interview that she moved to Germany with her family after her brother decided to further his studies there.

Chung also shared that she has always wanted to become a professional football player in the Bundesliga and the World Cup, so when the opportunity presented itself, she attended Bayern Munich's selection trial in February this year.

The rest, they say, is history.

"All of my efforts over the years paid off when I was selected as one of the 10 players to join the second squad of the U-17 FC Bayern Women," she was quoted as saying.

A young veteran

Despite her relatively young age, Chung has actually been playing football professionally since four years ago.

She trained at the Persatuan Sukan Bintang Biru (PSBB) in Penang, and she even made the women's national Under-15 football team back in 2019.

Chung became the hero when she scored the winning goal in a 2-1 victory against Cambodia in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Women's Championship in 2019.

The future is definitely bright for this young girl.

We wish you all the best, Celine Chung! Continue to spread your wings and we Malaysians are extremely proud of you.
