With the current active COVID-19 cases breaching 850 for the fourth straight day, the government is doing all they can to stop the rise in cases, including the possible reintroduction of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).


As such, the government has revealed that they do not know when the current conditional movement control order (CMCO) will end.

The government has no answer for now

The current CMCO, which started on 13 October, is scheduled to end two weeks down the road, but Senior Minister (Security) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has revealed that it might not be the case at all.

Ismail Sabri said during his daily press briefing on Tuesday (20 October) that the dates are not set in stone as the situation is still fluid, Malaysiakini reported.

The current CMCO for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Putrajaya is set to end on 27 October, and 26 October for Sabah.

However, the recent rise in cases have complicated the matter, Ismail Sabri said.


“We still do not know whether the conditional MCO that we announced will be extended or ended.

“For Selangor and the federal territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, it was supposed to end on 27 October and for Sabah, we had set a date as well, but we do not know.

“The situation will change from time to time,” he was quoted as saying.

We guess we would have to wait and see for the time being. Let's just hope the cases will not continue to rise.
