If you think the current SOPs to control the spike of Covid-19 cases in the country are not being adhered to strictly, don’t worry!

We might have stricter ones coming our way.

Numbers continue to rise

The Star Online reported that the government may be enforcing stricter measure to ensure public compliance to the SOPs.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob told the news portal that the government could always tighten the rules again after relaxing them, like what happened previously.

“If cases soar and the Health Ministry wants us to review the SOP, we will do so.

“For now, the ministry has not advised the National Security Council on this matter but we are not discounting it, ” he was quoted as saying.

Will we be forced to stay at home again?
He added that this has been done previously, when the authorities found that people were still going out despite being home quarantined while some have been throwing away their pink wristbands.

“After several incidents of people violating the rules of home quarantine by going out or throwing away their pink wristband, the authorities then reverted to having returnees undergo mandatory quarantine at government-designated stations, ” he was futher quoted as saying.

Despite extending the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in several states to 14 January, the number of cases continue to rise: Malaysia recorded a total of 1,925 cases on Tuesday (29 December), with two new deaths.

Sigh, we have a feeling that this won't end very soon, so don’t forget to follow the SOPs, guys!
