Although the initial response was good, a week later, only we found out that only 6.1 per cent of Malaysians have registered to receive the vaccines.
That's not a very good number.
'Wait and see' attitude
Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said as of 11am on 1 March 2021, only 1,468,137 of Malaysia's total population of 32 million have registered for the vaccination using the app.
"This represents only 6.1 per cent out of the target of 80 per cent vaccination of the population.
"The registration is somewhat low and we need to step up efforts to increase registration," The Star quoted him as saying.
Khairy said that the low number of people registering was due to people's "wait and see" attitude and something the government expected.
He, however, expects higher numbers of registration following the launching of hotline and online website registration on 5 March.
