Looks like there may be more drama relating to the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister who did not observe the mandatory 14-day quarantine after returning from Turkey last month.

Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, who first highlighted the matter, now claims that the family and a few officials also accompanied the minister, Datuk Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali, on the trip!

“I understand that the minister's visit to Turkey was also accompanied by family members and government officials."

“Are they undergoing the 14-day home quarantine according to government SOP?” said Kok in a statement as reported by Malay Mail.

It gets worse!

In the statement, Kok also claimed that checks on the minister's Facebook page showed that he started attending events as early as three days after returning from the trip.

“There is a possibility that thousands of people who had met him are now at risk of COVID-19 and there is a chance for a ‘Khairuddin Takiri’ cluster."

“Based on the SOP's announced by the National Security Council, he should have been under home quarantine for 14 days upon his return which is from July 7 to July 21 to ensure he is not infected with COVID-19 and does not spread the virus to others,” she said.

Kok added that there should be no preferential treatment when it came to how the country dealt with the pandemic.

No explanation

Meanwhile, checks on Khairuddin's Facebook page showed that he is still attending events as usual.

The last one was a chit-chat session that he had with taxi drivers at the Sultan Mahmud Airport in Kuala Nerus.

Note that neither he nor the taxi driver were wearing masks!

We scrolled further on his Facebook page and found that this minister was often pictured without a mask lah. Pelik!

Here's a post from an event with the Civil Defence Force on Wednesday, and you guessed it: NO MASK!

Here's the minister again, sans a face mask:

Here's another post about a ramah mesra event and you guessed it, NO MASK!

This story and all the accompanying pictures are really stressing us out.

If SOPs have been set it place, follow it; it should not matter if you're a VIP, some official or just a regular Joe Jambul.

Only with our combined efforts can we keep the COVID-19 numbers down and as a responsible Malaysian, that's exactly what we should always keep in mind.
