Well, for one minister, her performance ‘report card’ is probably glowing as her on-going efforts in protecting the environment was recently recognised by a scientific journal.
Minister of Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment Yeo Bee Yin has been selected as one of the top 10 of the most important people that mattered to the environment in 2018.

The esteemed publication, Nature Research, placed Yeo on the seventh spot because she’s a “force for the environment” and has “become a strong voice against plastic pollution.”
The journal noted that ever since she came into office on 2 July, she has introduced several bold steps in reforming how our country manages the environment.
Among them were setting goals to increase renewable energy from two per cent to 20 per cent of total energy generation by 2030, to reform the electricity market, and to ramp up energy efficiency.
The University of Cambridge graduate has also been very vocal about the concerning plastic pollution in Malaysia.
To tackle the issue, she’s set a nationwide ban on the import of plastic waste to Malaysia after seeing an alarming influx of it. She also launched a 12-year roadmap and legal framework on eliminating single-use plastics by 2030.
