In the 1 minute and 30 second video, celebrity Subash Abdullah, actor Shuib Sepathu, and influencer Ryan Fahmi Bakery, implore users to "Hentikan fitnah di media sosial" or to "stop slander on social media".

They're joined by Director General of JAKIM YBHG Datuk Hajah Hakimah binti Mohd. Yusoff, lawer Adam Muhibbullah, Minister in Prime Minister's Department for Religious Affairs Idris Ahmad, Ustaz Hariri bin Muhammad Daud from TV show Forum Perdana Ehwal Islam, and Dr Syar Meeze Bin Mohd Rashid who is a sign language translator and interpreter.

The video opines on the power of our words and how there's a glut of stories on social media and we can never be sure it's true.

Ustaz Hariri urges viewers to check the facts before sharing anything that may not be true or you might regret your actions later.

All of this is sound advice and probably one that we should all take to heart. But this was posted on Twitter and of course, Twitterjaya was quick to get to work.

One user replied "Fix the LRT and MRT services (No) "Hentikan fitnah media sosial lol" (Yes). We previously covered about the LRT escalator that's been broken for five years.Others asked if the Merpati story was true or fitnah while another user highlighted that Malaysia has many race and religions and the PSA should cater to everyonoe.

We're all for stopping the spread of fake news so... yay? Maybe if this was posted by the MCMC we wouldn't be so confused, but a good message is a good message anyway.
