Malaysians initially learned that logging into the MYJPJ app was a new requirement that was to be implemented on 10 October 2024. Many Malaysians took to social media with their gripes about the implementation of the app, which can be used to view and renew driver’s licenses, road tax, and vehicle ownership certificates. Netizens said it would be difficult for many people, especially senior citizens who weren’t tech-savvy. Others also noted that there were lagging issues with the app.
Following this uproar and confusion, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that the initial 10 October deadline for users to register for MyDigital ID to access the MyJPJ app had been cancelled until later. Currently, there is no official decision on using both MyDigital ID and MyJPJ, which ensures continued easy access for users.
According to Malay Mail, Loke said, “Following a pop-up announcement in the MyJPJ app, I want to clarify that this is not an official announcement, and there is information that has been disseminated which may confuse the public. I’ve noticed many comments on social media expressing concern and feedback regarding this matter.”
In a Facebook post, Loke wrote, “I have directed JPJ to allow users to log into the MyJPJ application as usual. The Transport Ministry supports the integration of MyDigital ID with the MyJPJ application but I have expressed to the MyDigital ID parties that this should be implemented back-end in order not to cause inconvenience to users.
“MyDigital ID aims to create a National Single Login where all government applications can be accessed without different usernames and passwords.”
He added, “There’s 10.5 million users that are currently active using the app, thus, the integration process will take some time.”
