They are the most precious people during this whole COVID-19 pandemic.

We're talking about the doctors, nurses and all other medical staff that are tasked to deal directly with those infected with the disease.

They are not only helping the sick but putting their lives on the line for the safety of the rest of us.

To reduce the risk of infection, some have come up with interesting innovations to protect our frontliners.

Interesting ideas

One invention is by a doctor in Kuantan who created a special cubicle meant to protect healthcare personnel for being infected.

According to Bernama, the 'I3S Cubicle' which is currently installed at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital took about a day to complete and would be used during patient screening.

Meanwhile, an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist at the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre also came up with another innovation meant to protect medical personnel.

Prof Dr Firdaus Hariri created a simple intubation box that acts like a shield when medical frontliners are required to intubate COVID-19 patients.

The design is easily duplicated and has been sent to various medical institutions around the country.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on the other hand, created 10 'UTM Shield Automated Disinfection Chambers' which have been given to officials at the Johor Baru City Council.

The booth allows those who may have been exposed to COVID-19 to undergo full-body disinfection.

Bravo to all who created these innovative creations.

May it better protect all our precious frontliners.
