Netizens Have Mixed Reactions over KFC & Pizza Hut’s New 2-5pm Only Menu Rahmah

Earlier this year, we posted about 15 Menu Rahmah F&B places that will help you save in 2023. For the uninitiated, Menu Rahmah is a fairly new initiative by the gomen to help and reduce the cost of living which offers a balanced meal at the price of RM5 and below. This is a Private Driven Initiative by many businesses that are carried out on a voluntary basis.

Now KFC and Pizza Huts restaurants, which are among the country’s most popular fast-food franchises, have also hopped onto the bandwagon by offering their own Menu Rahmah at only RM5. At KFC, you’ll get a piece of fried chicken, a butterscotch bun, and a bottle of mineral water. Meanwhile, the Pizza Hut meal consists of a Personal Pizza and a bottle of mineral water.

Both offers are valid from Mondays to Fridays from 2pm to 5pm. This is available nationwide at 1227 stores except for these selected outlets:

  • Airports, Genting Highlands, and Legoland (for KFC)

  • Pizza Hut (PHX) RSA Pagoh and Genting Highlands

This incentive has been met with mixed reactions from social media users. Some were excited to enjoy the meal at such an affordable price, saying that the size of the chicken was big, and the bun was soft:

A user said that she was thankful that the government paid attention to the plight of its citizens and that the menu offered a chance to those who would not be able to even step foot into the fast-food outlets otherwise:

However, many have criticised the hours that the menu is available:

One user mentioned that the menu seemed to be an insincere initiative as 2-5 pm was when office workers were rushing to complete their tasks:

Some have said that it would be better not to offer the Menu Rahmah at all, since it comes with so many terms and conditions:

Others said that the size of the chicken seemed to be only as big as the bun:

One user mentioned that rice should be given instead of the bun as only Westerners were used to eating bread for their meals:
