Fresh off the news that WhatsApp has discovered a security flaw thanks to a spyware, Japan’s Fast Retailing Co. has revealed that personal information from over 400,000 customer accounts of its Uniqlo and GU shopping websites may have been breached.
According to a Bernama report, the shopping websites were hacked between 23 April and 10 May and as a result, customers’ sensitive data may have been leaked.
Data that may have been leaked include names, addresses, contact numbers and credit card information, according to the report.
Fast Retailing has since apologised to its customers and proceeded to block unauthorised access, as well as disable the breached accounts’ passwords, prompting its customers to reset their passwords.
We don't know how this security breach will affect Malaysians, but we recommend that you change your Uniqlo or GU passwords just in case. You can never be too careful.
