The authorities, especially those at the Ministry of Health (MOH) have been warning us that COVID-19 numbers are steadily going up.
While most of us have grown numb to the numbers (we had 3,027 new cases yesterday), videos and pictures from the COVID-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) at MAEPS has gotten the attention of many.
Videos of a long line of people waiting at the centre and hundreds of occupied beds have circulated online and it looks scary!
This video which was posted on the We Are Malaysians Facebook page was taken on the 6th of January and shows a long line of people at Gate 2 of the Malaysia Agro Exposition Park (MAEPS) building.
Here are a few more videos and pictures from MAEPS.
It's crowded!
The videos and photos have since gone viral with many commenting that they were shocked to see the crowd at MAEPS.
Others also questioned how any kind of SOP can be adhered to when so many people are gathered in once space.
Video ini diambil di dalam Hall MAEPS. So everyone please jgn tambahkan lagi jumlah. Hospital dah penuh, MAEPS dah crouded! Tolong, tolonglah jaga SOP.

Jaga SOP, jgn melancong.. hold dulu.. bila dah terkena.. salahkan semua org lain .bukan nak salahkan dirri sendiri.. pastu komplen pusat kuaranti tak selesa bagai... SEDEHHHH

Rojak Daily has also tried getting comments from MOH pertaining to the viral videos and pictures but we have yet to receive any kind of feedback from them.
What is MAEPS for?
In early December last year, Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that MAEPS would be reopened following a spike in COVID-19 cases.
The location with a capacity of about 10,000 beds was supposed to cator to Category 1 patients who have no symptoms and Category 2 patients who have minor symptoms.

In a report by New Straits Times on 9 December, Ismail Sabri said that MAEPS was first opened on 16 April 2020 and was shut down on 15 July 2020 after successfully treating 1,362 COVID-19 patients.
A total of 86% of the patients were foreigners.
Following a spike in cases, MAEPS was reopened late last year.
So you guys, just keep looking at those videos and pictures and remember to do all you can to stay safe.
