The perpetually congested Pusat Bandar Damansara area welcomes a new mall, Pavilion Damansara Heights, a mall that has been in construction since at least 2016.

In the 80s, Pusat Bandar Damansara housed government offices and since those offices moved to Putrajaya, the area was left vacant which gave way for new buildings to be built. Add to that the construction of the Kajang MRT line and you've got a recipe for gridlock city.

These constructions came on the back of the completion of DC Mall in 2016, so the area has effectively been in development longer than this writer has had a job.

Tangeant aside, Pavilion Damansara Heights opened Phase 1 of its mall on October 9, 2023, and proudly showed off its 2,888 Murano-glass technology crystals facade to the public for the first time.

No word on when Phase 2 would be completed, but Phase 1 brings with it many familiar brands like Nanyang Cafe, Dyson, and Harvey Norman. Notably, TESLA will have a showroom here and Tesla Charging Bays are already in the area. Its mini anchor tenant, The Food Merchant also opened its doors on the same day.

The Food Merchant shares its DNA with Village Grocer and is a premium grocer with some key differentiators, namely, trolley escort service and cutting services for meats and fruits, with an ice bag to keep them chilled. The ice bag is a feature only touted at the Pavilion Damansara Heights location, so be sure to try that out.

We were also lucky enough to try OMI (no, not the dating app), the Japanese restaurant from Australia. This is their first foray outside of Australia and you can find more information about them in our reel below:

The mall is connected to MRT Pusat Bandar Damansara directly and there are many, many roads that connect the mall to the neighbouring areas (gee, wonder why there's traffic jams here all the time).

For those who are bellyaching about the constant construction, take solace in the fact that eight of the nine coporate towers and three residential towers has been completed and handed over, so construction is almost, probably, nearly done.

The complete Pavilion Damansara Heights development comprises of 10 corporate towers, 5 residential towers, and a international hotel. The mall is the most public facing part the development, but the real money for Pavilion and the real purpose of all of this construction are the corporate and residential towers.

When the dust settles, maybe the traffic in the area will calm down. Till then, stay up to date on the mall on their Instagram page.
